Storytelling Events for elementary
children and their parents
The Ashland Library Children's Department is offering three (yes,
three!) Storytimes. They are geared for toddlers and pre-schoolers
who spend about 30 minutes each week listening, laughing and learning
as they interact with Children's Librarian, Perii Hauschild-Owen,
and one another.
The Storytime line-up is as follows:
Monday
evenings from 6:30 - 7:00 PM. (kids are invited to wear pajamas).
Tuesday
mornings from 11:30 - 12:00 Noon.
Wednesday
mornings from 10:30 - 11:00 AM.
Join
us for books, songs, finger plays, flannel board activities, and more!
Dates of Summer Reading: Begins June 6, ends August 9.

June 17, 1:30 - 2:30 p.m.
"Lost But Found" program by Jackson County Search and Rescue. Suitable for ages 8 and up.
June 23, 3:00 p.m. Storyteller
Dorothy Ormes "Stories from Around the World".
July 17, 1:00 p.m. Storyteller Jeff Defty
"Silly Stories and Tall Tales from Around the World".
Look for a special celebration near the end of July, beginning of
August with visiting children's author Dashka Slater. We will hold a party celebrating her new book
The Sea Serpent and Me.
August 4, 10:30 a.m. Musician Rich Glauber "Music in Action".

Author Night at the Library

Watch for upcoming events:
June 28, at the library 7 - 8:30 p.m.
Tim Holt brings his musical program - Voices of the Valley, A History of Folk Songs.
Do you like Woody Guthrie? Come hear Tim sing and tell tales.
July 7, at the library,
Ramona Rubio will share her book The Alchemical Woman: a Handbook for Everyday Soulwork. The underlying assumption being
that the exterior life of the woman will reflect the wealth of her internal life - turning
poverty to riches on all levels of the integrated Alchemical Woman.
August 4, at the library - Carol Leonard SeCoy introduces her book Bag Lady War, a very
funny and thought provoking story of how some older woman decide to take care of some of societies problems.

Author Night at the Library Featuring Patricia Broersma, Author of Riding Into Your
Mythic Life.
Patricia Broersma will be speaking at Author Night at the Ashland Library on Monday,
September 8, from 7 to 8 p.m. Following a ten-year career as a horse trainer and
instructor, Patricia Broersma turned to therapeutic riding sixteen years ago. She founded
and directed a non-profit therapeutic riding program in San Antonio, Texas, and went on
to re-establish, direct, and act as head instructor for HOPE Equestrian Center in Ashland,
Oregon. As she says “The book brings my work as a therapeutic riding instructor with
horses together with my studies in myth and body based healing modalities. It offers
horse enthusiasts and professionals, as well as therapists, educators, and lay readers,
the opportunity to explore and expand human potential through powerful experiences with
horses and myth.” Author night is sponsored by the Friends of the Ashland Public Library.

Book Discussion Group

The Friends
of the Library are sponsoring The Elastic Mind: an Open Book Discussion group.
Everyone is welcome. The group led by
Joanna Fenn discuss many different books and subjects. Meetings are held
on the first Thursday of the month from 1:00 - 2:30 in the Guanajuato
Meeting Room at the library.

Book Discussion Group
The Elastic Mind Book Discussion Group will meet Thursday September 4 from 1:00 to 2:30
at the Ashland Public Library to discuss “Changes in Attitude Towards The Career Woman”.
Suggested readings include Susan Quinn's Marie Curie: A Life, Madeleine Albright's Madam
Secretary, a biography of Eleanor Roosevelt or a book of your choice. This lively
discussion group, sponsored by the The Friends of the Ashland Public Library and led by
Joanna Fenn, invite all to come and join in.
